Sorry for late updates!
Ok, after gruelling hours of battle, Malaysia men finally say goodbye at Turin at placed 80th with 25.5 points. After the lost of 0-4 to Italy A. Bad ending to our men, but praised should be given to them since they do caused several upsets in the olimpiad. Mean while our men lost, our women were impressively perform well in the final round beating Iraq 3-0, kudos to them!
In the general section, witness, Armenia securing gold medal when they drew with Hungary in the final round, while China capturing silver (what a stunning performance) and USA (unexpectedly) were placed third!
In the Women section, Ukraine won the gold medal, Russia with silver medal and China with Bronze medal.
Although my hero (kramnik) team didn't brought back any medal at all, brought at least he himself did get rewarded for best performance rating awards. Congratulations!

Chess Olimpiad Turin 2006
Hi, once again I am late with the report. Too busy! Sometimes I just wish that I am rich so that I don't have to work anymore, and concentrate on what I like most, CHESS!
Ok, let me start with my report on Chess Olimpiad, as usual, how Malaysia doing so far.
After 10 rounds, Malaysia Men (IM Mas Hafizulhelmi, FM Mok Tze Meng, FM Lim Yee Weng, NM Jonathan Chuah, and FM Anas Nazreen Bakri), is now currently standings in 59th spot. Impressively, despite all the critics on our Mas Hafizul, he has showed that anything is possible once you put your mind on it! What a performance when He actually beaten GM Pascal (Canada) in round 6 and GM Korchnoi (from Switzerland - A veteran in chess arena whom I respect) in round 9. In round 4, Malaysia beat Uganda, 4-0, Round 5 beat Italy A, 3-0, Round 6 beat Canada 3.5-0.5, Round 7 lost to Germany 0-4, won against Morroco in round 8 by 3.5-0.5, beat Switzerland by 2.5-1.5, and lost to neighbouring country Philippines in round 10 by 0.5-3.5
And, Malaysia Ladies (WFM Siti Zulaika Foudzi, Wan Khye Theng, WCM Nursyazwani Zulkafli, and Roslina Marmono), is now currently standings in 51st spot. Siti is finally earned her WIM title, because her ratings are now reaching 2200. In round 4 Malaysia beat Switzerland by 2.5-0.5, Lost to France in round 5, 0-3 (with all mysteries on why Siti was left out in the round, since France fielded their strongest players against us), round 6 won against Guatemala 2-1, round 7 lost to sweden by 1-2, round 8 won with South Africa 2.5-0.5, in round 9 lost to Columbia by 0-3, and in round 10, we bounced back to defeat Sri Lanka by 2.5-0.5.
With the remaining 3 rounds to go (starting tonight at 9 pm Malaysia time), we can only pray hoping that the result will be much better, because in this Olimpiad we have fielded the most experienced and promising players ever produced by Malaysia.
What come to my surprise is that Malaysians are actually watching all Malaysian games, at the event live, every night, most of them are kibitzing at www.petak64.com (including me!). This can only mean that we give support to the players despite any disputes on how the players were selected (as when the game started, words of encouragement spreads amongst the kibitzers)
kudos to all Malaysian Chess Fan out there!

Surprisingly tournament favourite, Russia are currently in third place with 26.5 points after a surprise defeat to France (No, my hero Kramnik did not lose his game, it was the fourth board). Now in the lead is Armenia with 29 points, followed with China with 27 points.

Ever since chess olimpiad started, I have been keeping myself struggling to be awake just to watch the match live on the net.. Lately I got to work 30 minutes late! But that never stops me to keep writing about chess! Hey, I am after all crazy about chess..
Ok, about the news. In Round 4, Malaysia men manage to won all 4 games against uganda, And surprisingly Malaysian women won 2.5-0.5! Siti Won, Syazwani drew and Roslina won. What a performance! Impressive.
But let me get you the report on round 3 :
Round 3 was played on Thuesday 23 May at 03.00 p.m. Russia (Kramnik, Morozevich, Bareev, Rublevsky) defeated Germany (Naiditsch, Yusupov, Lutz, Graf) with 2,5-1,5. Fight of the Day was Kramnik-Naiditsch. It was Kramnik’s first game in in the chess arena after an absence of about half a year. Kramnik won. In the Men’s section Russia, China and Uzbekistan lead with 10,5 points, followd by Ukraine, Netherlands and Greece with 10 points. A group of 6 countries is on 9,5 points.
In the Women’s section Lithuania (Cmilyte, Ciuksyte, Daulyte, Batyte) leads with the maximum score 9 points, followed by Russia and China who dropped half a point.

Chess Olimpiad Turin 2006
Hi all Chess Fans out there..
Sorry, no chess news for these past few days, I've been busy with my work. But.....
On Friday night, I still have time to play chess... ;-))
So, if you guys out there, want to play chess with me, meet me this saturday, at KWSP kuantan!
I will keep you guys update with the latest news on Malaysian team at chess Olimpiad in Turin.
First round, both men and women team lost their game. Men lost 4-0 to spain, Women lost 3-0 to China, games and latest result will update later.

Kuantan Vs Temerloh friendly match 2006
Hi all,
I bet all Kuantan chess fans are waiting to read the results of a recent friendly match, Kuantan Vs Temerloh. The match held in a restaurant near KWSP Building in Jalan Besar, Kuantan on sunday 14th May 2006.
There are 11 players on both sides, competing in a 2 round match (same like Malaysia vs Singapore match). First round of the match witness victory for Kuantan, when they gunned down Temerloh with the score of 8.5 - 2.5. Second round also saw a winning triumph for Kuantan, when again they crashed down Temerloh with the same result!!... What a match!
Congratulations to Kuantan players, led by the captain of the match En. Kamal Azmi Bin Wahidduddin.
With all the hearts and warmful thanks to Temerloh Players for coming all the way from Temerloh to make this a successfull event! Thanks to Temerloh Captain En Fadhli Zulkarnain and the players.

On Sunday (14th May 2006) there will be an event at Lancang Kuning, Kuantan (near KWSP Building at Jalan Besar). Kuantan vs Temerloh friendly match.. I'll give you the update soon!
