19.White To Move

In the position above white has an advantage with one pawn. The question is..

a)Can White prevent Black from capture the pawn?
b)Can Black stop the advanced of the White pawn?

Solution For problem 18

White win in this type of position with no room for black to find a draw. However to obtain this White must play accurately without any error.Leaving no possibility for black to look for a draw. The key move in this position is 1.e3 Kd6 (if 1...Kf6 followed by 2.Kd5 Ke7 3.Ke5) 2.Kf5 Kd7 3.Kf6 Kd8 4.e4 Kd7 5.e5 Ke8 6.Ke6 (just keep in mind that this move 6.e6?? lead to a draw by 6... Kf8=) 6...Kd8 7.Kf7
